Finding your way in the dark

Life surprises.

Lifts us up, throws us around.

We wrap our fingers into fist’s and shake our hands at heaven… tears streaming, hearts pounding…loud!

Life surprises.

As families of faith…living through the storm of life unaffected… is like trying to hang tightly to a feather in a hurricane. Theoretically possible, but highly unlikely.

So what do we do when the bottom falls and our wings aren’t working?

When the light grows dim and fades into black… how can we ‘see’ anything?

It’s a moment of choice. We must choose.

Faith determines to ‘believe’ in the promise of hope when nothing in our life makes sense anymore.

Faith flickers suddenly into flame when we choose to believe again… to trust in the words of God vs. the whispers of doubt, urging us to give up.

Here is the truth;

God IS. God WILL always BE. God loves completely and relentlessly. No other love compares.God satisfies every part of who we want to be and could never ever describe. God waits patiently for us to ‘choose’ Him. God speaks the clearest in our storms, in the darkness He draws near. To comfort, to give strength and to illuminate our darkest spaces.

The Life-Light

John 1 1-2 The Word was first,
the Word present to God,
    God present to the Word.
The Word was God,
    in readiness for God from day one.

3-5 Everything was created through him;
    nothing—not one thing!—
    came into being without him.
What came into existence was Life,
    and the Life was Light to live by.
The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness;
    the darkness couldn’t put it out. (MSG)

PS – Feeling the ‘surprise’ loss of a childhood friend today. Gone too early. Rest in peace Tami.
